Repulsion of an evolving surface on walls with random heights
We consider the motion of a discrete random surface interacting by exclusion with a random wall. The heights of the wall at the sites of Z are i.i.d. random variables. Fixed the wall configuration, the dynamics is given by the serial harness process which is not allowed to go below the wall. We study the effect of the distribution of the wall heights on the repulsion speed.

متن کاملRandom-roughness hydrodynamic boundary conditions.
We report results of lattice Boltzmann simulations of a high-speed drainage of liquid films squeezed between a smooth sphere and a randomly rough plane. A significant decrease in the hydrodynamic resistance force as compared with that predicted for two smooth surfaces is observed. However, this force reduction does not represent slippage. The computed force is exactly the same as that between e...
متن کاملBalanced Walls for Random Groups
We study a random group G in the Gromov density model and its Cayley complex X. For density < 5 24 , we define walls in X that give rise to a nontrivial action of G on a CAT(0) cube complex. This extends a result of Ollivier and Wise, whose walls could be used only for density < 5 . The strategy employed might be potentially extended in future to all densities < 4 .
متن کاملThe Navier wall law at a boundary with random roughness
We consider the Navier-Stokes equation in a domain with irregular boundaries. The irregularity is modeled by a spatially homogeneous random process, with typical size ε≪ 1. In the parent paper [8], we derived a homogenized boundary condition of Navier type as ε→ 0. We show here that for a large class of boundaries, this Navier condition provides a O(ε3/2| ln ε|1/2) approximation in L, instead o...
